Dr Neil Waddell BVSc - Practice principal, Veterinarian
Neil was born in Devonport, grew up at Hauraki Corner and has been working here at Shore Vets for 20 years.
Neil graduated form Massey University in 1984 and he has worked chiefly in companion animal practice with a particular interest in surgery. He has practiced both in the United Kingdom, & New Zealand.
He lives locally with his wife Jenni, who has been a GP in Belmont for the last 24 years. Together they have 3 children and outside the clinic Neil likes to relax by playing the piano, swimming, and reading.
Dr Tania Krupitza BVSc - Veterinarian
Tania graduated from Massey University Veterinary School in 1988. Since then she has travelled widely and worked in practice in the United Kingdom, South Africa & New Zealand. She has been at Shore Vets since 2004.
Tania has a special interest in Small Animal Medicine and in 2011 she completed a year-long Postgraduate course in Emergency Medicine. In 2014 she also completed a Post Graduate paper in Clinical Pathology.
Tania lives with her two cats, Spook & Kirani.
Her interests include horse riding holidays in countries all over the world. She also enjoys music, yoga and exercise.
Andy Rissman BVSc - Veterinarian (Veterinary Surgeon)
For the last few years Andy has been working at Shore Vets on a part-time basis.
Andy graduated from Massey University in 1994 with a BVSc and after working in New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Australia he graduated from the University of Sydney in 2000 with a MVetStudies.
Earlier in his career Andy worked as a vet in wildlife sanctuaries and zoos, focused on wildlife/ exotic animal medicine. For the last ten years his main role has been small animal medicine and surgery.
Andy enjoys surfing, snowboarding and spending time outdoors with his family and friends. He wants to walk all the New Zealand Great Walks- so far he’s done one, with more to come soon.
Annika Holmqvist - Veterinary nurse
Annika was born in Sweden. After sailing around the world she arrived in NZ and has lived here for many years. She has worked in various jobs and raised three children. Four years ago she finished her Vet Nurse Plus training and became a qualified vet nurse, as well as completing a course in canine behaviour. Since then she has been working at East Coast Bays and Whangaparoa Veterinary Clinics as a nurse/receptionist. Annika shares her home with two cats - Zelda and Jonah. In her spare time she enjoys fine wine and food and exercise. She also likes reading and enjoys the current Scandi-noir offerings on TV.
Sarah Hailwood - Veterinary nurse
Sarah was raised on a small rural property in Tauranga and has always been surrounded by animals.
With her love of animals Sarah decided to become a Vet Nurse. In 2017 she completed her Diploma of Veterinary Nursing. Sarah started with Shore Vets shortly after completing her studies.
In her spare time she enjoys reading, and spending time with her pets.
Hannah Mason - Veterinary nurse
Hannah was raised in Pakuranga. After leaving college, she went on to complete a Bachelor of Applied Sciences with a major in animal management and welfare. Hannah has done work with Auckland zoo, as well as work with the SPCA and various veterinary clinics before deciding to complete a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing.
Finishing her studies at Vet Nurse Plus, Hannah started at Devonport vets in June 2019. She is thoroughly enjoying looking after all the cuddly fur babies in the area.
Hannah lives with her fiancé Ciaran and their young energetic puppy Diesel.
Rachelle Bakewell - Receptionist
Rachelle was born in New Zealand. She has lived in Auckland, Wellington and the United Kingdom, and has travelled extensively around Europe.
Rachelle holds a Graduate Diploma in Computer Publishing and Design. She has worked in a variety of positions including, but not limited to: Graphic Designer/Mac Operator and Finishing Artist.
She is a huge animal lover, and has had several different pets over the years including cats, and fish. Rachelle is a mum to two young girls. She enjoys fitness, and has participated in numerous events including: Round the Bays 2008, 2017 and 2018, The North London Half Marathon 2015, the Auckland Half Marathon 2016 and 2017.
Moshi - Clinic cat
Moshi adopted the clinic 17 years ago and enjoys his role as meeter and greeter. He can often be found curled up on the fax machine or printer or sitting on the front desk asking for a face rub. He loves to be stroked before giving people a quick peck on the nose (to show his affection).
